Homemade First Grade

Things have cooled down here in NC thank the Lord. I have been busy this summer working in summer school. We are using a pirate theme for the summer and the kids are having fun. We are working on the reader's theater for the book
How I Became a Pirate
by David Shannon.
We are working on making a ship and costumes. I have created a pirate sight word game for students you can get for free.

Brain researchers have learned that if this type of music is played at a quiet level that both the left and right brain are engaged! When we have 3 minute dance parties to give the kids a break I like to play kidz bop. We also do Just Dance for kidz on You Tube.

    I'm so excited to find your blog through Farley's currently. I'm interested in using more brain based strategies in my class. I'd love it if you would come check me out. My blog says kindergarten but I'll be teaching first next year.

    I love to create things for my classroom ALL of the TIME...it is an addiction. =)

    I am trying to find ways to tie in more brain based strategies with my Conscious Discipline and am excited to share what I will be doing. =)
